13 names of the prophet’s wife

During this time maybe we only know a few names of the prophet Muhammad’s wife. Whereas there are approximately 13 wives of the prophet Muhammad SAW. as we have known by Muslims, that prophet Muhammad had more than one wife. But what the Prophet did was a Shari’ah event that the Prophet had to live.

As it is known that among the 13 wives of the Prophet, only Aisha bint Abu Bakr married the Prophet in a virgin state. The rest, they are widows. Some widows are also married to those whose husbands have been martyred in the war against the infidels.

1) Khadijah bint Khuwailid, The first prophet’s wife

The first wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a woman of the Quraysh. Before marrying the Prophet Muhammad, Khadijag had been married twice. But both husbands died. Khadijah’s previous husbands were Abi Halah AtTamimy and Oteaq Al Makzumy.

During his marriage to kahdijah, the Prophet Muhammad never practiced polygamy, marrying another woman as a second wife. After khadijah died, The Prophet Muhammad remarried.

2) Saudah bint Zam’ah

She was the wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) after Khadija died. She was the widow of Sakran bin Amr Al-Amiry. Saudah is known as a wife who joked to the Prophet Muhammad( peace be upon him).

3) Aisha bint Abi Bakar As-Shiddiq

The privilege that Aisha has that her holiness has been recognized by Allah SWT from above the seventh heaven. Aisha was married by the Prophet Muhammad in the month of Shawwal.

4) Hafshah bint Umar, The prophet’s wife

She was the daughter of the Prophet’s friend Umar bin Khatab. Hafshah is known as a woman who is good at reading and writing, a worship expert so she is referred to as shawwamah which means woman diligently fasting, and qawwamah which means woman diligent night prayer.

5. Zainab bint Khuzaimah

She was from the Quraysh and a widow of a hero of the battle named Abdullah bin Jahsy. Zainab is known as a woman who is known to be generous so she earned the title as Ummul Masakin which means her mother is poor people.

6. Um Salamah, The prophet’s wife

Um Salamah also came from a generous Quraysh named Umayyah bin al-Mughirah. He is also known to be charming and intelligent.

7. Zainab bint Jahsy bin Rabab

Zainab was married to The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by the command of Allah SWT. This is what he has advantaged among the wives of the other prophets.

8. Juwairiyah bint Al-Harith

She was a woman from the Jewish Bani Musthaliq. Before converting to Islam, the name Juwairiyah was Barrah.

9. Um Habibah bint Abi Sufyan

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) married Um Habibah who was a cousin of Uthman bin Affan. Before being with the Prophet Muhammad, Um Habibah was blessed with a child named Habibah from Ubaidillah bin Jahsy.

10. Sahfiyah bint Huyai bin Akhtab

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) regarded Shafiyah as a sahdiqah woman which means a woman who is honest with her faith. Shafiyah came from the Jewish nation of Bani Nadzir and a daughter of the leader of the Bani Nadzir, Huyai bin Akhtab.

11. Mariyah Al-Qibtiyah, The prophet’s wife

Mariyah was a woman who received the Prophet Muhammad as a gift from King Muqauqis, an Egyptian leader, as a form of answer to the Prophet Muhammad’s invitation to embrace Islam.

12. Raihanah bint Zaid Al Quradziyah

Raihanah was a slave of the Quraysh. Many people assume that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) married Raihanan after releasing him from captivity.

13. Maimunah bint Al-Harith

Maimunah was the last wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and brother of the Prophet Muhammad’s wife, Zainab bint Khuzaimah.
