Here are 4 Practices of The Prophet Zacharias and Wife to have children
Prophet Yahya was the son of the prophet Zacharias. Yahya was the son of Zacharias and his wife, Ilyasya.
Because, they are only blessed with sons after old age. In fact, it is mentioned in the narration that the wife of the prophet Zacharias has been sentenced barren.
The story of Prophet Zakaria and his wife who still try to ask for offspring to Allah SWT, inspires married couples who have long yearned for offspring.
Imad Al-Hilali in the Book of Encyclopedia of Women of the Qur’an explained, the full name of the prophet’s wife Zakaria is Ilyasya binti Faqud bin Qabil.
This woman always wished to be blessed with offspring in her life.
So, what was practiced by Zacharias and his wife so that the hope of having children could be fulfilled?
1. Pray for posterity
He always prays to Allah SWT both in solitude and in the crowd.
Although Ilyasya was barren and sickly, he still hoped that God could give him offspring as happened to other women in general.
When not given offspring, Ilyasya in addition to praying also always glorify every morning and evening. This is the case with Zachariah.
2. Be patient waiting for the child
Although he was very old, his head was full of gray hair, his wife had been convicted of barrenness that could not possibly give offspring, and he was in a state of despair, but he remained patient.
These two righteous servants remain patiently awaiting God’s decree
3. The prayer of the prophet Zacharias
And Zachariah, when he was middle-aged, said, “O My Lord!
And if there is no prophet after him, he fears that his people will be lost.
In the recitation of his prayer, he asked God very much because his wife is old and barren. Allah said in sura Maryam verses 2-6 reads:
4. Never hopeless
Explained in the book 25 Prophets Many Miracles since Adam AS Until Muhammad SAW by Usman bin Affan bin Abul As bin Umayyad bin Abdu Syams, finally God granted the prayer of the Prophet Zacharias.
Allah gave him the Prophet Yahya as his successor.
Not long ago he prayed, the angel called him when he prayed in mihrab. Allah said in Sura Maryam verse 7:
He said, “O Zachariah, I have been commanded to be of those who submit.” We give you good tidings of a son, John, whom We have never given a name to before.”
And we called zachariah and his wife to be worshipped, and We gave them offspring.
Through the womb of Ilyasya, a child named Yahya was born. Ilyasya was 98 years old and Zacharias was 120 years old
