This collection of hadiths presents only a few examples of Islamic attitudes towards healthy and hygiene.

First, cleanliness is part of faith.

From Abu Malik Al Asy’ari the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: “Cleanliness is half the faith,

Second, brushing your teeth is highly recommended.

From Abu Hurayrah radliallahu ‘anhu, that the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: “If it does not burden my ummah or humans, I will surely command them to take a stand (brushing their teeth) at every time I want to pray.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Third, personal hygiene is human nature.

From Abu Hurayrah in narration, (sunnahs) fitrah there are five, or five of the sunnahs of fitrah, namely; circumcision, shave pubic hair, pull out armpit hair, cut nails and shave mustaches.”

Fourth, keep the environment clean.

From Mu’adz bin Jabal, he said; The Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: “Fear the three things that are cursed; defecating in water sources, the middle of the streets, and shelter.”

Fifth, overeating is unhealthy.

Al Miqdam bin Ma’di Karib Al kindi said; I heard the Prophet Shallallahu’alaihiwasallam say: “It is not the son of Adam to fill a place worse than the stomach. It was enough for the son of Adam to eat some mouthfuls that could straighten his ribs. If that’s not possible then one-third for food, one-third for drinks and one-third for breathing.”
