6 Ways Allah Mentions Prophet Muhammad in Quran

The WAY Allah calls the prophet Muhammad in the Quran is very special. Unlike other prophets, the prophet Muhammad was called upon in a different way, although his name is only mentioned four times in the Quran.

How does Allah mention the prophet Muhammad in the Quran?

1. (Muhammad) Grace for the Universe

Alah SWT said:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ

“We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ only as a mercy for the whole world.” (QS Al Anbiya: 107)

This is one of the highest compliments ever given to a human being. God has referred to Himself as the Most Merciful, and He has named His most beloved servant as a mercy to the universe. It summarizes what the Prophet brought to this world—grace—and what his mission promised in the hereafter—grace again.

2. (Muhammad) Great character

Another great praise that Allah gives to the Prophet is found in the Quran. While the people called him crazy and questioned his intelligence and motives, God comforted him . He said:

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ

“We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ only And you are truly ˹a man˺ of outstanding character.s a mercy for the whole world..” (QS Al Qalam: 4)

An unequivocal verse signifying how the Prophet was destined to be the best man to ever live on Earth.

He was at the highest standard of character—the most virtuous, the most patient, the most loving, the most polite, the most compassionate among men, the kindest to his wife, the kindest to his friends, the kindest to his family, to be honest. , trusted, and much more. Even his enemies testify to that.

His character is such that God himself mentions his greatness.

3. (Muhammad) He Looks Up, and A Verse Reveals

When the Prophet first moved to Medina, his qibla was still in the direction of Jerusalem and not in the direction of Mecca. The Prophet found it difficult to turn his back to the Kaaba as he prayed.

One day he looked up to the sky. He didn’t make any prayers or requests, he just looked up. Allah not only answers what his heart seeks, but also mentions it in the Quran. God publicly declares His love for the prophet in His book.

“Indeed, We see you ˹O Prophet˺ turning your face towards heaven. Now We will make you turn towards a direction ˹of prayer˺ that will please you. So turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque ˹in Mecca˺—wherever you are, turn your faces towards it. Those who were given the Scripture certainly know this to be the truth from their Lord. And Allah is never unaware of what they do.” (QS Al Baqarah: 144)

4. God comforted him

Many times when the Prophet was sad, sad, or affected by the death of a close relative, God sent down verses to comfort him. Many surahs like Surah Duha, Surah Taha, Surah Yusuf, Surah Maryam, etc was passed down specifically to calm his heart. Such was the honor of the Prophet, that his heart was soothed by the word of God Himself from heaven.

5. Never Called Him by Name of Muhammad

Among the miracles of the Quran is that Allah never called the Prophet directly as “O Muhammad” as he did many times for other prophets such as Dawud, Musa, Zakariya, and others.

Instead, God uses affectionate terms, such as: “O ye who are a prophet”, “O one who wraps himself up”, “O one who covers himself,” and others. In honor of the Prophet, he was never mentioned by his own name but only by various titles and with his status showing how deeply God cared about him.

6. Defense of His Family and Followers

Allah defended the Prophet from false accusations several times in the Quran, but not only that, He also defended and mentioned His family and friends.

There are verses in the Quran addressed to his wives, with the honorable term “Mothers of the faithful.” His adopted son Zaid was named. When some people spread rumors about Aisyah, Allah responded to their accusations by lowering Surat Nur, in which more than 20 verses were sent to defend her.

These are just a few examples of how Allah defended His Prophet and our Prophet Muhammad.

The prophet is a guiding light for all of us, and the more we know about him, the more we will love him . Let’s strive to learn more about the Qur’an and more about the Prophet kit
