After Prayer, Muslim Must Read This Dua

Prayer is the second pillar of Islam after the creed. Prayer is the main worship that becomes the foundation of a Muslim’s faith.

A person who claims to be Muslim is obliged to pray as proof of his faith. But not a few people do not know how to read prayers after salat is good and correct.

Dhikr or recitation of prayer after prayer is a practice exemplified by the Messenger of Allah

Dhikr and praying after obligatory prayers are also recommended by the Messenger of Allah صله الله عليه وسلم to his people.

Imam Nawawi in al-Adzkar said that the scholars had agreed (ijma’) on the sunnah of dhikr or the recitation of prayer after this prayer.

Please note that this book by Imam Nawawi is one of the reference books of the scholars.

For those of you who do not know the recitation of prayer after obligatory prayer, or do not understand the sequence of prayer readings after obligatory prayers, here is a series of dhikr and prayer readings after five times prayer

Reading Istighfar First

The prayer reading after Salat is to read istighfar three times.

Can be a short istighfar prayer, can also use a rather long editorial as quoted from the second below:

From Abu Hurayrah radhiyallahu ‘anhu, he heard the Prophet sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam say,

“By Allah, I truly repented to God and repented to Him in a day more than 70 times.” (HR. Bukhari no. 6307).

Followed by reading the sentence of tawhid which is very high priority:

And remember Allah much, that which he may remember. And none comes with a better deed than him, except he who does more than himself.”

After that we read three prayers asking for protection from the torment of hell:

“ALLAHUMMA AJIRNI MINAN-NAAR” 3 Time
