benefits of Fasting in Syawal

In the month of Syawal Muslims are sunk to perform fasting for 6 days. When fasting Syawal then must be well intentioned in the night or morning / day.

This is the intention of fasting Syawal.

Nawaitu shauma ghadin ‘an adâ’i sunnatis Syawwâli lillâhi ta’âlâ.

It means: “I intend to fast the Sunnah of Syawal tomorrow because of Allah SWT.”

Well, if a person forgets the intention at night then he must make it during the day with the following intentions:

Nawaitu shauma hâdzal yaumi ‘an adâ’i sunnatis Syawwâli lillâhi ta’âlâ.

It means: “I intend to fast the Sunnah of Syawal today because of Allah SWT.”

benefits of Fasting in Syawal

one of the special sunnah for a Muslim is fasting in the month of Syawal. It is fasting that is time to be done after Eid al-Fitr for 6 days.

Allah SWT places great virtue for those who fast in the month of Syawal. Shaykh Muhammad Nawawi al-Bantani in nihayatuz zain page 197, confirms the following:

It means: “The fourth is (fasting sunnah six days in the month of Syawal) based on the hadith, ‘Whoever fasts Ramadan, then accompanies it with six days of fasting in the month of Syawwal, it is as if fasting a whole year.’

Another hadith says that fasting a month of Ramadan is equivalent to fasting ten months, while fasting six days in Syawal is equivalent to fasting two months. All of this is equivalent to a full year’s fasting.’
