Mankind never escapes error and sin. Either it’s done deliberately or not. However, Allah, the Most Merciful and the Most Forgiving, always provides an opportunity for His servants who wish to repent.
When a person commits sin, it will make his heart rest. Guilt will always overshadow it. So hasten to ask forgiveness and truly repent.
Allah SWT said, “And repent all of you to Allah, O believers, that you may be blessed” (QS. An-Nur: 31)
Allah SWT has opened the door of forgiveness for those who constantly repent. As Muslims, we should regret the sins that have been made during life. And strive to avoid sin.
The following are practices in Islam that can eliminate sin:
Allah swt said, “Say: “O My servants who transgress against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of God. Surely Allah forgives all sins. Surely He is the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.” Qs. Az-Zumar: 53)
As a creature who often errs, do not feel desperate to always ask Allah SWT for forgiveness. As long as the body is still alive, God always gives his servants the opportunity to repent.
One way to repent is to pray repentance. That is to pray sunnah to ask God for forgiveness from all sins. Repentance prayers are usually done as much as two rakaat.
When performing repentance prayers, multiply istigfar and remember all sins, and promise not to repeat them again.
Multiplying Dhikr, Can Remove Sins
In addition to repentance, always ask Allah SWT for forgiveness by dhikr mentioning His asthma as a sinner. Here are some dhikr recommended by the Messenger of Allah as a sinner.
Rasullulah SAW said:
“No one has been returned runya (wake up) then read, Laillahaillallahu wahdahula syarikalah, lahulmulku walahul hamdu yuhyii wayumiitu wahuwa ‘ala kulli syaiinqodir – There is no god but Allah the Almighty. There is no partner in Him. To Him belongs all kingdoms, and to Him all praise belongs to Him. He has power over all things, and He forgives all his sins, even as much as the froth of the sea.” (HR. Ibn Sunni, Imam an-Nawawi)
“Whoso uttereth; Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi – Glory be to Allah and praise him only, as many as a hundred times a day, then Allah SWT will forgive his sins, even though as much froth in the sea.” (HR. Imam al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim)
Fasting Diligently, Can Remove Sins
Fasting will prevent a person from committing sin. For when fasting, he will restrain all his desires. So that by fasting more and more people will avoid sin.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, “Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and sincerity (seeking reward for Allah) then his sins are forgiven that has passed.” (HR. Bukhari and Muslim).
Fasting in Ramadan is a privilege that can be felt by Muslims. Not only because it is able to withstand lust, but there are also extraordinary blessings during Ramadan. In addition, Ramadan is a month of forgiveness for His servants.
However, fasting cannot only be done in Ramadan. You can also increase fasting on normal days. Examples include fasting syawal, fasting Monday-Thursday or fasting prophet David.
