The most Islamophobia countries

Moslimdaily – Islamophobia is a controversial term that refers to discrimination, fear, and hatred towards Islam and Muslims. Islamophobia has actually existed since the time of the Prophet Muhammad. However, this term later became increasingly popular with the events of 9/11 in the United States (USA). Islamophobia is developing in non-muslim majority countries, especially in America and Europe

Islamophobia in France

In 2011, Nicolas Sarkozy, who was then President of France, called for a ban on the use of the niqab, a veil that covers the entire body except for the eyes.

Women who use the niqab are not welcome in France. If anyone violates it, it will be fined 150 euros or IDR 2.4 million. Forcing the use of the niqab will also be subject to sanctions in the form of a fine of around Rp480 million and one year in prison.

Abdallah Zekri, Head of the National Observatory of Islamophobia, said there were at least about 235 attacks aimed at French Muslims in 2020. Currently, France has passed an anti-separatism bill that refers to restrictions on the Muslim community.

The burning of the Quran in Malmo City in 2020 has become a testament to the apparent Islamophobia that occurred in Sweden. Swedish Muslims flocked to protest over the arson.

This raises questions because Sweden is a European country that is considered quite friendly to Muslims. However, there has been a change in the Swedish view of Muslims.

They view muslims as the cause of the problem that ultimately creates the conditions for Islamophobia. Anti-Islamic movements began to spread.

Islamophobia in Norway

Norway is the country with the strongest Islamophobia. Acts of Islamic blasphemy are rife in the country, such as the burning of the Quran and the humiliation of the Prophet Muhammad.

The chairman of Stop Islamization of Norway said that Islam is not accepted in Norway at all and all existing Qurans must be destroyed. Not only that, a study by researchers at the Norwegian Institute of Social Research revealed that job applicants who have a Pakistani or Muslim name receive 25% fewer job calls than native Norwegians.

The statement showed that the level of discrimination against Muslims in Norway was already concerning.

In June 2021, there was an accident involving a crime in the name of Islamophobia. One family died as a result of being hit by a car.

One family consisted of a father, mother, grandmother, and a teenage child, while another 9-year-old child sustained injuries. The attack occurred because the family, known to be of Pakistani descent, was walking around the afternoon and wearing Muslim clothes.

However, attacks on Muslims in this country are not the first time they have happened. Canadian Muslim Association Director Rania Lawendy revealed that anti-Muslims and Islamophobia have been entrenched for quite some time in Canada.

This can be seen from several cases of mosque destruction and death threats against Muslims.
