The food you eat not only affects physical health, but can also affect spiritual health. Therefore, you must avoid these kinds of haraam foods and drinks in order to keep worship smooth.
Islam regulates all lines of human life. One of them is about fulfilling food needs. In addition to the factors of taste, nutrition, hygiene and safety, there are other aspects that are no less important, namely the status of halal and haram food.
Islam pays great attention to halal, haraam, or syubhat (dubious) food. Islam pays attention to food sources, cleanliness, processing, presentation, and how to dispose of food waste.
The command to eat halal food and thayyib has been explained in two main sources of reference of Muslims, namely the Qur’an and Hadith.
And everything has been regulated in the rule of Islamic law practically regarding the criteria of the type of food that is Haram, in the sense of forbidden to be consumed by a Muslim
1. Carcass its Haram
What is meant by carrion is all animals that die without going through the process of slaughter in accordance with Islamic law and also not the result of hunting activities.
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala said about what is meant as a carcass in the following verse
“Forbidden to you are carrion, blood, pork, (animal flesh) that is slaughtered in the name of other than Allah, suffocating, suffocating, falling, being horned, and being attacked by wild animals, except those you slaughter, and those slaughtered for idols… Qs. Al-Ma’idah: 3)
Thus it can be concluded that the carcass can be distinguished into several types according to the cause of death, namely:
- an animal that died from suffocating its neck
- animals that die from hard blows
- animals that die from being attacked by other animals
- animals that die without being slaughtered in the name of God
but in Islamic law, there are 3 types of carcasses that are permissible to be consumed, namely:
- All kinds of fish, because fish are animals that live in the water
This is based on the hadith of the Prophet (pbuh) :
“It is permissible for us two carcasses and two bloods. As for the two carcasses, they are fish and locusts. And as for the two bloods, the liver and the lymph are.” (HR. Ahmad and Ibn Maajah)
- The fetus of an animal that is slaughtered in the name of Allah, then the fetus is allowed to be consumed
2. Blood Its Haram
Blood is one of the foods that is forbidden and should not be consumed as people consume blood as a mixture of food or drink and freeze it to eat.
Blood flowing or radiating haraam law as mentioned in the Qur’an surah Al An’an verse 145 which reads
However, if blood remains in the veins of animals slaughtered in the name of Allah, then the blood is lawful when eaten with its flesh.
3. Pork Its Haram
It is mentioned in sura Almaidah verse 3 that Allah SWT prohibits pigs and any food containing parts of the body of pigs including meat, fat and even enzymes or cells of his body.
Pigs are forbidden because these animals are dirty animals and carry disease seeds, especially tapeworms that can harm humans.
Khamr is all intoxicating and includes liquor or alcohol and all kinds of drugs that can make people addicted. In sura al maidah verse 90, Allah says:
“O you who have believed, it is an abomination, including satan. So stay away from them so that you may be successful.” Qs. Al-Ma’idah: 90
5. All fanged beasts
The next type of haram food is all animals that have fangs both benign and wild.
Animals with fangs in this case are animals that use fangs to eat their prey including dogs, tigers, and even tame cats that are illegal to consume.
6. All birds that have claws
In addition to the fanged animals, all birds that have sharp claws used to kill and eat their prey are haraam for consumption such as eagles and eagles.
7. Jallalah Its Haram
Jallalah is a term for stool-eating animals or human feces or other animals such as cattle, buffalo, chickens and so on.
Therefore, if a person keeps livestock to be consumed should pay attention to the food so as not to be contaminated with such feces. Jalllalah here include crows and vultures.
8. Animals Ordered to Be Killed Its Haram
All animals that can harm humans and are ordered to be killed without slaughter are haraam for consumption.
In mahzab Shafii it is mentioned that monkeys are haraam, because Allah has punished a group of people who sin, namely the Jews and turned them into pigs and monkeys.
In addition, monkeys also have similarities with humans in terms of genetics and similarity of five senses and it is mentioned that monkeys are not a good type of animal.
