In this article, here we tell about what the meaning of Islam, and also what exactly the meaning of Islam that we should know.
Islam in Arabic is the mashdar of the word aslama-yuslimu-islaaman, which means obedient, submissive, obedient, surrendered to Allah. Whereas when viewed from the origin of the word, Islam comes from the words assalmu, aslama, istaslama, saliim, and salaam. Each of these words has the following meaning:
- Assalmu means peace, peace. That is, Islam is a peaceful religion and every Muslim should maintain peace.
- Aslama means obedient, surrendered. That is, a Muslim should surrender to Allah and follow the teachings of Islam obediently.
- Istaslama means surrender.
- Saliim means clean and holy. The meaning of this word is a picture of the heart of a Muslim who is clean, holy, far from the nature of shirk or the favor of Allah.
- Salaam means salvation. Islam is a religion full of salvation. If a Muslim practices the teachings of Islam well, then Allah will save him both in the world and the afterlife.
Islam was brought by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to mankind as a guide to achieving happiness in the world and the afterlife. The essence of this religious teaching is to testify that there is no God but Allah and the Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, establishing prayers, performing zakat, fasting in Ramadan, and going to Hajj when possible. All these things we are more familiar with as the pillars of Islam
So the meaning of Islam is to submit oneself to Allah and obey Him by martyring Him, purifying the practice only for Him, keeping His commandments, and abandoning his prohibitions.
And everyone who believes in it, then believes in it, then he is a Muslim.
