Mecca is a holy land for Muslims which is also known as the Land of Haram. Nonmuslim is forbidden to enter the city of Mecca. Do you know how non-muslims were banned from entering Mecca?

There are boundaries marking parts of the Mecca region that are forbidden to non-muslims. During the conquest of the city of Mecca or fathul Mecca, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“Verily this city, God glorified it on the day of the creation of the heavens and the earth. It is a holy city with the foundation of the glory that God ordained until the Day of Judgment.” (HR Al-Bukhari, 3189; Muslim, 9/128, 3289)

Allah Ta’ala also said:

” ( An-Naml : 91)

The cities of Mecca and Medina are called haramain or two Haram Lands, having boundaries.

When driving will enter the two cities there will be signs of the boundary between the areas of the holy land and not

Meanwhile, the haram land boundary that applies all the provisions on the illegitimate land is the miqat makani boundary as it applies to pilgrims. So it is at the limits of the miqat that the non-muslim should no longer enter into it.

To the east is Dzatu ‘Irgin, that is, the boundary of people entering from the direction of the land of Iraq. Somewhat to the south still to the east there is Qarnul Manazil.

The southernmost, that is, from the direction of the land of Yemen, there is Yalamlam. While from the north, a few kilometers from Medina City, there is Bi’ru Ali, or also known as Dzil Hilaifah. To the west there is Juhfah or also called Rabigh.

The city of Mecca will continue to develop but the Haram Land will not develop because the boundaries have been set, namely from the north direction of the Grand Mosque 7 km, the South direction 13 km, the west direction 25 km.

7 Misconceptions Non-Muslims About Islam

In the region there is the Kakbah and the Grand Mosque. There are also various kinds of prohibitions such as hunting game animals, not being allowed to damage trees, the soil and stones are prohibited from being taken out of the Haram Land and non-Muslims are prohibited from entering.

In addition to these two regions, nonmuslims can enter Saudi Arabia, such as the city of Jeddah which is similar to international cities in other parts of the world.

There are many expatriates from the West, India, the Philippines and China. The female expatriates in the city are free to roam without a veil.

The beginning of non-muslims being forbidden to enter of this city

In the year 8 Hijri (623 AD) Mecca was still allowed to be occupied or visited by Christians, Jews, and other non-muslims. It even happened after the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم liberated the City of Mecca.

At that time, the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم welcomed the friendly non-muslim population. But because the infidels committed many hypocritical acts, broke promises, and antagonized and desecrated the Islamic shia, in 9 A.D. they were forbidden to enter the Haram Land.

This is based on the word of Allah Almighty which means:

Meaning: “” (At-Taubah : 28)
