Women in family of Prophet Muhammad

Prophet Muhammad PBUH just like humans in general who have a private life. He is not only a leader of Muslims, but to his family, he is a husband and a father to his children.

The following are the names of the wives and children of the Prophet Muhammad SAW during his life.

1) Wives of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH

Khadija bint Khuwaylid was the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad and the one he loved most. During his life with Khadijah, the Prophet Muhammad never married any woman.

“He believed in me when no one else did. He accepted Islam when people rejected me, and he helped and comforted me when there was no one else to help me,” the Prophet SAW said.

His marriage to Khadijah, gave birth to two sons who died at a young age and four daughters. Some scholars consider three of his four daughters to be Khadija’s children from his first marriage.

Zaynab bint Jahsh: Prophet Muhammad’s cousin and wife. Zaynab is described as a small and beautiful woman, with a temper that rises quickly and quickly subsides. A skilled leather worker, Zainab married the Prophet Muhammad after the death of her first husband in 622.

Hafsah bint ‘Umar: Hafsah was not afraid to speak her mind. Like many of the Prophet Muhammad’s wives, he was previously married. Hafsah helped the wounded on the battlefield when her previous husband was killed.

Zainab bint Khuzaimah: She was an old widow of a fallen Muslim who was known for giving money to the poor when she married the Prophet SAW. He died just eight months later.

Umm Salamah: She and her first husband were early converts to Islam, and she had immigrated to Abyssinia and Medina. When she married the Prophet Muhammad, she was the single mother of four orphans.

Maria al-Qibtiyya: Mary was a slave who was given to the Prophet Muhammad in 628. Maria had a very beautiful face, in fact she was also pregnant with the child of the Prophet Muhammad. Maria was a mother to Ibrahim, one of the three sons of the Prophet Muhammad, who died before his fifth birthday.

Juwayriah bint al-Harith: She was captured by Muslim troops after her husband was killed in battle and released by Prophet Muhammad when he married her. At that time, he was 20 years old and the Prophet Muhammad was 58 years old.

Umm Habibah: Also known as Ramla bint Abi Sufyan. She along with her first husband also converted to Islam early. When her husband returned to Christianity, Umm divorced him and later married the Prophet Muhammad, although they did not initially live together.

Maimunah bint al-Harith: Maimunah married the Prophet Muhammad in 629. She lived with him for three years before she died at the age of 80. Maimunah would be the last of his dead wife

Safiyyah bint Huyayy: The daughter of a Jewish tribal chief, Safiyah was taken prisoner when her husband was killed in battle by the Muslims in 629. Soon after converting to Islam, she married the Prophet Muhammad.

Raihanah bint Jahsh: Like several wives of the Prophet Muhammad, Raihanah belonged to a Jewish tribe that was conquered by Muslim armies and then enslaved. He was released by Muhammad, then married him.

2) The Prophet Muhammad’s Children

Prophet Muhammad had seven children, three sons and four daughters. His sons Qasim, Abdullah and Ibrahim died in childhood. Two of his daughters died.

Hadhrat Zainab (599-630)

The eldest daughter of the Prophet Muhammad was born in the fifth year of her first marriage, when she was 30 years old. He converted to Islam soon after the Prophet Muhammad declared himself a Prophet. Zainab is thought to have died during a miscarriage.

3) Prophet Muhammad’s second daughter became a Muslim at the same time her mother did.

Umm Kulthum (603-630)

She was the first daughter born to the Prophet Mohammed and Khadijah after they moved to Makkah. He converted to Islam shortly after his mother’s death.

Fatimah (604-632)

Prophet Muhammad’s youngest daughter was very devoted to him and spent her free time praying and worshiping. She was the mother of the Prophet’s grandsons Hassan and Husayn. He is considered a role model for all Muslims. Fatimah is one of the most loved names for Muslim girls.
