What is The Meaning Of Wudu?

The Meaning Of Wudu

Muslims are encouraged to do wudoo’ in all worship activities such as praying and reciting the Qur’an. The goal is to purify yourself before interacting with Allah SWT.

The ruling on wudu is not absolute, depending on the worship performed. It is obligatory to perform worship such as praying, holding the Qur’an and performing tawaaf.

according to shariah definition, wudu is washing, draining and giving by using water on each part of the members of wudu to remove dirt attached to the skin.

Wudoo’ is one of the things that is required if a person wants to pray. If a person’s wudu is complete and according to the guidance of sharia, then his prayer will be valid.

On the other hand, if the wudoo’ is not in accordance with the conditions and pillars that have been determined then the prayer is not valid.

The conditions of wudu are as follows:

1. First Step Of Wudu – Using holy and clean water

It means: “Surely the water is pure, nothing can defile it.” (HR. Tirmidhi).

2. Second Step Of Wudu – Water used is halal water and not stolen water

O you who have believed, do not consume one another’s property in falsehood. Qs. An Nisa : 29)

3. Cleaning objects that can prevent water from touching the skin, such as nail polish, etc.

It means: “There is a man who wudoo’ and leaves a place at his feet (not washed), then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw it, so he said, “Go back and fix your wudoo’, then he returns and then he prays.” (HR. Muslims).

While the pillars of Wudhu are as follows:

  • Intention in the heart

Enough intentions are done in the heart. Don’t have to say with a sentence

If a person washes wudoo’ with the intention to reduce the heat or to clean it, then it is not considered as wudoo’.

It means: “All deeds depend on their intentions, and for each person (depends) on what is intended…” (HR. Muttafaqun Alaihi).

  • Washing the face (including gargling and istinsyaq)

It means: “It is customary (The Prophet sallallahu ‘alaihi was sallam) if he is going to do wudoo’, he takes a handful of water and then he washes (to his face) until his throat and then he interrupts his beard”.

Then he said, “This is the way of wudoo’ that Robbku commanded me.” (HR. Abu Dawood).
